We stayed at camp for awhile and had breakfast and lunch there before leaving to go to our next destination which was a town close to the border with Switzerland. Before long we were in the mountains, we drove through some of the best scenery we have seen so far, especially this massive lake surrounded by mountains which had some islands on it and small towns all around the edges. It was way different to most of Italy that we had seen so far.
It started raining not long after we passed the massive lake which was nice, I don't think it had really rained since Versailles, super weird to go for over a month only having super hot sun all the time, you definitely don't get that in Wellington! We kept a lookout for somewhere to stay but ended up driving quite a bit further than we had planned since the roads were really small and windy and we didn't see anywhere we wanted to stop.
We actually went over the border into Switzerland before we found somewhere to spend the night, it was a picnic area near the train station which was next to a river with a cute old stone bridge and mountains and trees all around. It was way cooler there than it had been in ages, only about 18 degrees which was so nice, and it seemed to get cooler at night as well.
We had chilli con carne and mashed potato for dinner, it was so good! It has been hard to have hot food for ages since it's so hot all the time. I miss having soup! Anyway it should be cooler while we are in Switzerland and Germany which will be good for a change. We are hardly in Switzerland and it is so super pretty! It's a lot different to most of the countries we have been in so far because it is way more mountainous whereas France, Spain and Italy were all mostly flat where we were.
