Adventure Time!: Day Twenty-Eight: Marseilles and more

This morning we woke up early where we were staying and went down to the marina because we thought there would be bathrooms and showers down there since there weren't any where we were for the night. There were some which was good, the showers were like outdoor beach ones and cold but that was ok because it is so super hot here all the time! Also I had an amazing view while showering.

After that we headed towards Marseilles to go check out this sweet church thing on top of a hill. They also have the chateau there which was in The Count of Monte Cristo (which I haven't read/seen) but is like a cool castle type building out on an island. We could see it from the church which was on top of the tallest hill. You can go out to it but we didn't have time for that. The church was amazing though and had a statue on top weighing 10 tonnes! The church was first built in the 13th century so that is some pretty good surviving. There were pretty amazing mural/mosaic type stuff going on in the inside, and heaps of paintings of ships. There was also an amazing view of Marseilles from up there, the ocean looks so nice!

After Marseilles we headed to St Tropez to see if we could see any celebrities or anything. One of the first things we noticed was the number of super yachts, there were tonnes! We were super jelly of the people who could afford them! Also when we were driving around I saw all the fancy shops like Dior, Gucci, Prada, Hermes, etc where the richies shop. We walked around the harbour a bit but didn't see any celebrities, jjust got mega hot because it was about 30 degrees + so we went back to the car and the air conditioner!

It was quite late in the afternoon but the GPS said that Cannes was only 40km away so we thought we would head there next. After mass amounts of driving and seemingly never getting any closer to Cannes we decided to give up and look for somewhere to stay and go to Cannes the next day. We were in the middle of nowhere at that point and nearly out of petrol so we went to the toll road since we know they have heaps of places to stay on them and found one only about 20km away. It was a place with a sweet picnic area and childrens playground and heaps of parking areas and stuff so that was cool.

We went into the McDonalds to check out our route for heading into Italy and had some McDonalds for dinner as well, we tried a french thing which was like a big baguette with meat patties and hash browns and salad in it, pretty good actually. We decided to do Cannes tomorrow, Nice and Monaco the next day, and then head into Italy. We will go down the West coast to Rome and then from there head back up the middle-ish bit to Switzerland, I am super excite for pizza and pasta! Nom!
