Anyway we drove just down the road so we were close to the tower and got dressed etc on the side of the road! Luckily there weren't many people around so early in the morning! Then we walked down the road and the tower was right there! It is was better looking than I expected, all marble and cool columns. There was basically noone else there which was cool, we got to take some photos without having other people in them! We had a look around the baptistry and cathedral which are in the same area but unfortunately the didn't open until 10am and we didn't feel like hanging around that long.
There is a big wall still going around a lot of the old city so we had a look at some of that as well, it kind of seemed like you might be able to walk the top of it but we couldn't see a way to get up so just figured we may as well get going to the next place. We drove on some actual normal roads this time, with two lanes on each side even! It feels different to the tiny winding roads we had been on the day before.
We stopped and made some breakfast at a rest area along that road (cheese and marmite toast, my fave!) and then went on for a few hours down the coast. We saw massive fields full of sunflowers everywhere, it's so pretty! I don't know what they grow them for (maybe the seeds?) but it looks super nice anyway. We also saw some cool trees which look kind of like they are from Africa, and Quentin said that they were the ones he based his tattoo on.
When we got to about how far we wanted to go for the day we stopped at a town and walked around it for an hour or so looking for an internet cafe or some wi-fi but didn't have any luck. It was a cute town though and we got some mosquito repellant things and some citronella burners to hopefully stop me from getting so many millions of bites all the time! We wanted to go swiming so drove towards the beach but as we were driving I found some unlocked wi-fi so we stopped in the suburb and used their wi-fi to update the blog and look for places to stay in Rome and stuff.
Then we went to the beach and had some pasta salad for lunch and went swimming. It was super warm at this beach because the water stayed shallow for ages before it got any deeper. After a few beach hours we went to find somewhere to stay. We could see a Marina from where we were at the beach so we headed over there and parked and had a look around because I knew there would be showers there. It was a pretty fancy marina so the showers were fancy too. It was nice to have a warm shower for once!
We had some of the tuna meals we like for dinner, mexican ones with kidney beans and corn and capsicum etc, super yum! And then slept for the night by the boats. We could hear some sort of party going on somewhere, maybe on a boat or in a field around where we were but they were not playing very good music!
