Day Twenty: More Island Time

When we woke up this morning it was another cranking day, we are good at sleeping in now as well, until around 10 so it's always way bloody hot in the van when we wake up! We had some coffee at the camp and read for a bit while watching puppies going for walks and stuff, everyone has puppies here, we are so jealous and wish we had one with us for our travels! We left the camp after that to go look for a beach to have breakfast. The ones we found though weren't very good since the tide was waaaay out and we wanted to go for a swim, well I did, Quentin may not have wanted to expose his white white legs haha.

The GPS we have is a bit crazy and is always taking us down all these roads which don't seem like real roads. We were trying to find another beach and it took us all over the island down these crazy tiny roads in the middle of fields and we didn't know if we would ever get out of it or not! Also at one point in the day it was convinced we were driving in the ocean. That said it can be a bit useful, just not as much as it should be! Anyway we went to what the GPS thought was a beach but it was not. It was a nice place though so we had breakfast/lunch at the same time since we were super hungry. We had got some bread and gouda (trying all the cheeses!) from a little town earlier so we made some sandwiches and tried to get some more tan.

After lunch we went to have a look round the cute town we saw when we first got to the island. There are heaps of little markets around as well but we don't want to buy things so we don't go to them really. We walked down to the little port where all the little buildings are painted up in pretty colours and they had art galleries and stuff. Then we went into the old fort/chalet which was pretty cool, it still had a moat and windows where the guns would have gone out and stuff. They also had a petite train in the town, or maybe more than one. Quentin and I are pretty convinced that the French are obsessed with petite trains because they are everywhere, and the people riding on them never look like they are having any fun. Maybe we will go on one and have fun to show them how it is done!

We were pretty hot after that and thirsty so we went to the port and to a super cute bar with couches outside to have some big beers. There weren't many people there when we arrived but it got pretty popular. There were a table of guys who must have been about 5 or so years older than us and I was surprised to see some of them drinking pina coladas since I kind of classify it as a lady drink! Maybe not in France though. After that we decided to head a bit further south to find somewhere to stay for the night, a place near a marina. It was pretty popular and the places we were meant to park were taken but we just went around the corner a bit by a petanque club (which they also love in france) and parked right by the water which was cool.

We had ravioli from a tin for dinner and decided that we don't really like it so we aren't going to get it anymore. A guy tried to speak to us in French while we were having dinner but we totally couldn't understand what he was saying. It may have been that the village across the bay was beautiful (is that what jolie means?) but who knows. The petanque people had a small party before they went home but it didn't bother us.

Tiny tiny car!
